Physiotherapy Treatment

Your physiotherapy treatment always starts with a 60 minute initial assessment. Through understanding your unique history, injuries, movement capabilities and goals we will come up with a comprehensive plan together. These are the most comprehensive and thorough appointments Steph offers, with modalities including manual therapy, contemporary medical acupuncture, clinical Pilates and other exercise prescriptions based on your presentation and personalized plan. As sessions progress, the use of each modality may change and vary over time, as does the state of your body and performance ability. Whether you are looking to rehabilitate a recent injury, over come chronic pain, or improve a sports specific performance goal, the comprehensive physiotherapy plan will help get you there.

  • Hands-on treatment including muscle, joint and connective tissue work. This can facilitate tissue healing, relaxation and ease of movement.

  • Used to increase blood flow to tissue, reset the nervous system and enhance connections through the muscle system. Electroacupuncture is known to support overall recovery.

  • Using the principles of Pilates for rehab and performance. In session, there is an emphasis on creating stability and efficiency in movement patterns for activities of daily life, which if needed can be tailored and trained to support sport performance.

Movement Training

For those looking to work specifically on stability, strength, endurance or power performance, this is for you. A 60min assessment is completed where Steph learns about your past activities, sports involvement and any issues you may have had along the way or currently, along with what your future goals are. No hands-on or acupuncture techniques are used, but a program is created depending on your needs. Steph will incorporate mobility training, clinical Pilates work, weight lifting, and other exercises specific to you for your performance needs. The goal is always to create a stronger foundation and system for you to move from, whether this is in everyday life or in elite sport.

Virtual Care

For those not local to Toronto or not wanting to come in for an appointment, Steph is happy to provide virtual care. A thorough movement assessment is performed following which a progressive program will be created based on your sport and movement goals. Your current activity, injuries, and lifestyle factors will all be directly taken into account in order to optimize training to facilitate your needs. Specificity in exercise execution is assessed and managed virtually through digital platforms that allow video recording and detailed feedback from Steph directly to you.

  • No! Physiotherapy is traditionally thought of as a tool to recover from injuries, but Stephani treats and trains people far beyond this. Her belief is that physiotherapy, acupuncture, and training SHOULD be used as preventative means for injuries, and as a way to stay healthy in general. These sessions are often a way to improve how your body feels and moves, no pain or injury required!
